Summer Creative Writing
The Stonington Community Center (COMO) is now registering for summer adult writing courses. The COMO offers two courses for budding writers, including a “Fiction Writing Class” and “Keeping a Notebook”.
Fiction Writing Class - Throughout the fiction course, participants explore the use of “free write” as they progress a piece of work from first to final draft. Work is done in a non-judgmental atmosphere and beginners are welcome in this process and practice-based course. This course is specially tailored for participants 18 years or older. Taught by Beverly Doyle at the Practice Space located at 11 Allen Street, Mystic, CT.
Runs: Tuesdays, 6:00-8:00pm
Begins: June 25th
Duration: 8 weeks
Cost: $80.00
Keeping a Notebook - This course requires students to keep a daily notebook recording reflections, people, places and observations. The class offers support and encouragement through discussion, while working to develop each participant’s unique voice and vision. This course is specially tailored for writers 18 years old or older. Taught by Beverly Doyle at the Practice Space located at 11 Allen Street, Mystic CT.
Runs: Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm
Begins: June 26th
Duration: 8 weeks

AARP TAX PREP
Take the hassle out of your taxes this year! The Stonington Community Center (COMO) is hosting FREE tax preparation, offered as part of AARP’s tax aide program. Although the program is designed to
assist seniors, anyone is welcome. There will be four tax consultants present from 12-4PM in the COMO auditorium on the following dates: February 7th, February 21st, March
7th, March 21st, April 4th and April 11th. Consultations last for the duration of one hour. Please call ahead to make an appointment as spaces are limited.
