As Executive Director, Beth is responsible for all day-to-day operations and building upon the COMO Legacy. She holds an undergraduate degree from Salve Regina University, a Master’s Degree from Connecticut College and has completed additional graduate coursework and training at the University of Connecticut’s School of Social Work. Her career has included various roles, such as: Victims Advocate; Adult Probation Officer; Private Therapist; Special Education Counselor; Human Services Director; Adjunct University Faculty; as well as, numerous leadership positions on various local and regional boards and committees. Beth is the proud mother of three daughters whose interests beyond her family life include her artwork, golf and reading.
Priscilla oversees all educational programming and is directly involved with teaching and developing our beloved Preschool. She is passionate about teaching and committed to providing positive and engaging learning experiences for our youth. Priscilla holds a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies from Castleton University, graduating magna cum laude with a licensure in Elementary Education and an English concentration. In her free time she loves to be outside and especially enjoys exploring hiking trails, running, or spending time at the beach.
Christina oversees development and communications at the COMO and supervises a small team of development staff. She worked at the COMO previously as a marketing manager, preschool assistant teacher and office assistant. Prior to returning to the COMO, she worked at Brandeis University’s International Business School and Hassenfeld Family Innovation Center as a communications specialist. Christina holds a B.A. in marketing communications and public relations from Emerson College. She lives with her husband Geoff and her dog Kona and enjoys running, going to live concerts, and traveling.
Sean is responsible for all athletic staff and programming. He came to the COMO with a wealth of nonprofit work experience as sports and camp director, aquatics/waterfront director, head coach and teen/adult sports director at regional YMCAs and at the Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club. He is also an experienced tennis coach and has a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island. Sean lives with his wife and two children and enjoys surfing, hiking, golfing and playing tennis.
Liz plays a multifaceted role for the COMO overseeing financials and Thrift Store operations. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. from UMass Amherst, after which she moved to Stonington and never looked back! She came to the COMO with 20 years of retail management experience, and nearly 10 years of experience in the financial industry. In her spare time Liz likes to be crafty and creative with projects, spend time with her husband and cats, and spend time at the beach.
Cindy has been a part of the COMO team since 1996, and you can now find her at the COMO Thrift Store. A native of the area Cindy loves the Stonington community and has never wanted to call anywhere else home! She has two children, and her daughter attended the COMO preschool program and participated in programs throughout her youth.
Kelsey Haack is responsible for all athletic programming. Kelsey holds a Bachelors degree from Trine University in Angola, Indiana in Exercise Science earning assorted accolades and scholarships for her academic performance. She is also a certified Personal Trainer, whose work experience includes both corporate and nonprofit environments promoting health and wellness programs. Kelsey is passionate about wellness and staying active. Kelsey has participated in a variety of sports including softball, soccer, dance, and broomball, a sport that involves players running on the ice with brooms to manipulate a frozen ball into the opposing team’s net. In her free-time Kelsey enjoys lifting weights, playing board games and getting together with friends.
Mr. Joe has been with the COMO since 2007, and leads our Jr. Leadership Program and many of our STEAM programs. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Special Education and Graphic Design from CCRI, with additional undergraduate coursework at Rhode Island College. Joe utilizes hands-on, real-world projects and techniques to teach students in the COMO MakerSpace. Joe brings his passion for science, engineering and design into everything he does at the COMO. He is a self-described “geek” who encourages students to embrace their own passions and inner "geekiness!" When Mr. Joe is not at the COMO, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, hiking, cooking and tinkering.
Kathy handles donor mailings, plans fundraisers and events and assists in the oversight of the COMO Thrift Shop. Previously, she worked as a scientist within the government sector supporting environmental initiatives and community education campaigns at D-Max Engineering and KCI Technologies, Inc. Kathy holds a B.A. from the University of Delaware in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Law, Policy and Politics. Kathy enjoys hiking, traveling, and trying new recipes in her free time.
As Curriculum Administrator, Amy plays a big role in the curriculum development for COMO Programs including the COMO Preschool where she also serves as Head Teacher. Amy graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a mathematics concentration. She has always had a passion for teaching and strives to develop a classroom curriculum and environment that fosters the individual needs of each child, helping them to reach their full potential. In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with friends and family, boating, golfing, and going to the beach!
As administrative coordinator, Amy is one of the first faces you may see when visiting the COMO. She assists visitors in becoming COMO Members, enrolling in one of the many programs offered or simply answering visitors’ questions. Before coming to the COMO in 2017, she worked as a preschool teacher at Riverfront Children’s Center and as a supervisor at Carlo’s Bake Shop. Amy holds a B.A. in Child Development from Colby Sawyer College. In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, three beautiful daughters and her golden retriever Bentley. She’s happiest when she’s outside.
Scott is the head teacher for the COMO’s middle school enrichment after school program, IMPACT, and is also a friendly face at Deans Mill COMO Kids in the mornings. Prior to coming to the COMO, he worked at Habitat for Humanity, the Harvard School of Public Health and for the Champions Skating Center. He has a B.A. from Emmanuel College. In his spare time, Scott likes to hike, surf, travel, play hockey and make music.
Jen is the head teacher for the COMO Kids before and after school program at Deans Mill School and also assists in the preschool on the main COMO campus. She has a B.A. in Liberal Studies and Spanish from the University of Redlands. Prior to coming to the COMO, she was a substitute teacher for Kelly Services. Jen moved to the area after her husband was transferred to Subase New London. In her spare time, Jen likes to go to the movies with her husband, have girls days with her Navy wife friends and hangout with her dog Heidi.
Hannah Staley, Head Teacher
As a Preschool Teacher, Hannah works alongside the head teachers to assist in curriculum development and implementation. Hannah has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Services from Salve Regina University. Before coming back to work at the COMO, Hannah served as a Lead Teacher at the Primrose School in South Riding, Virginia. She is excited to be back at the COMO working with the preschoolers! She has always loved working with kids and enjoys watching them grow. In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as going to the beach!
