Spring Pottery Classes

Please note all new students taking a full class must pay a $30 materials fee. Returning students, who have taken a COMO pottery class within the previous six months, have the option of waiving the materials fee if they have left over clay purchased through the COMO. 

A COMO Introduction to Pottery course is required as a prerequisite to the intermediate and advanced courses unless the COMO Pottery Studio Manager approves ability level.


Introduction to Pottery

This is an eight-week class devoted to the understanding and practices of the joys of ceramics. You will learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, handbuilding and glazing, so that by the end of the eight weeks you will have a portfolio of finished work. The main goal of this class is to create as well as appreciate expressive, beautiful three-dimensional clay forms. Knowledge of pottery is not required to take this class; blank slates welcome!

Dates & Times: Mondays, April 2-May 21 | 6-8 p.m.

Studio Fee (Mandatory for all new students): $30 (includes 25 lbs. of clay, firing and glazes) 


Create Your Own Dinnerware

Do you ever dream about creating your own dinnerware set? Now, with this class, you can! This eight-week class is devoted to the creation of your own dinnerware set of two. Get ready for a fun exploration of creating your own set of mugs/cups, bowls and plates. Now your guest will not only be complimenting your food, but what it is served on as well! This is an intermediate class for those that have some experience on the wheel or working with clay as a medium.

Intermediate Pottery

Students will learn new and more advanced techniques focused both around wheel work and hand-building. As the instructor always says, "If you can build a cylinder, you can build any shape." Students will learn just that. Students will be pushed outside of their comfort zones and learn how to manipulate clay in new, exciting ways. Introduction to Pottery is a prerequisite of this course, to learn a basic understanding of the studio, tools and techniques.

Advanced/Intermediate II: Full Session or Drop-In

A great fit for those students who wish to develop more advanced clay techniques and increase their knowledge of ceramics as an art form. Students will work on their own designed projects as the instructor guides the students to help them reach their own goals. This course is designed for past students. The COMO's Introduction to Pottery class is a prerequisite to register for the intermediate class.

Exploration of Ceramics                       

This intermediate class is designed for those students looking to build on their experience with clay as an artistic medium. Students will be shown technical demonstrations every class and will have the option to apply the technique to their projects. The goal is to allow students to walk away with more of a technical aptitude in ceramic arts. This is an intermediate class for those that have some experience on the wheel or working with clay as a medium.
