Spring Youth Pottery


Pre-Teen Pottery

(Ages 8-14)

In this class students will explore their creativity and what their imagination can do, all while learning the fundamentals of ceramics. We will work on new and exciting projects every week, from hand-building ocarinas to learning the basics of wheel throwing. By the end of the session your child will have a wonderful portfolio of finished works. 

Session I: March 8-29 | Fridays, 4-5 p.m.

Youth Pottery A

(Grades K-4)

Make a box, make a ball, make it short, or make it tall! Sculpt animals, flowers, faces and more. With hands in clay, students can create anything they imagine. No previous experience needed, but be prepared to have fun and get messy. Taught by Amanda Oakes.

Grades (K-4)

Introduction to Pottery

(Ages 16+)

This is an introduction class devoted to the understanding and practices of the joys of ceramics. You will learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, handbuilding and glazing; so that by the end of the class you will have a portfolio of finished work. The main goal of this class is to create as well as appreciate expressive, beautiful three dimensional clay forms. Taught by Victoria Schmidlapp.  Six week sessions on either Monday evenings 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday afternoons 2-4 p.m.

Should the COMO need to cancel a class, a makeup date will be observed on a certain date. Makeup dates will not be observed in the case of a participant's inability to attend class.

Make-up dates: April 30, May 28, 6pm-8pm

Section II: Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m. - six week session

Family Clay

(Ages 3-8 with guardian)

Envious of the great things your kids make? Now adults may join their kids in our family pottery class! Participants will be exposed to and gain experience from a professional pottery studio. Students will learn handbuilding, sculpting techniques and how to use the potter's wheel. Multiple surface decoration techniques will be demonstrated and used. No prior experience is required. More challenging work will be assigned to students with previous experience. Registration pricing includes one child and one caregiver.
