Summer STEAM Classes

3D Printing Camp

(Ages 8-12)

Spend the week learning the ins and outs of 3D printing. Campers will learn about design thinking, how to create 3D models using CAD (computer-aided design) software, and how operate a 3D printer. Each camper will have their own 3D printer to use during class and spend the week modeling and printing a variety of their own 3D prints.

Dates & Times: Monday through Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Introduction to 3D Printing and Computer-Aided Design

(Ages 9-12)

This hands-on five week program introduces students to the exciting world of 3D printing. Students will learn how 3D printers work, the basics of safety, operation and maintenance. Along with learning the 3D printing process, students will also learn how to design models for 3D printing using computer-aided design (CAD) programs. Each student will have access to their own 3D printer to use during the class. Enrollment limited to eight students.

Intermediate 3D Printing and Modeling

(Ages 13-15)

This intermediate 3D printing and modeling class is intended for those students who have completed the Introduction to 3D Printing and Computer-Aided Design. Students will dive deeper into different design programs and learn how to manipulate existing designs. This class will be project based, with students working on larger projects. The class will work collobratively with their peers and teacher to improve their designs. Enrollment limited to eight students.

Intermediate 3D Printing and Modeling

(Ages 16+)

This intermediate 3D printing and modeling class is intended for those students who have completed the Introduction to 3D Printing and Computer-Aided Design. Introduction to Screen Printing

(Ages 9-14)

In this week long camp, students will learn the basics of setting up a screen, printing on paper and cloth, and cleaning the screen. Students will be able to take a screen, create a design on it, and paint cards, clothing, fabric pieces, etc.
Through the completion of projects, students will show an understanding of the screen printing process and develop ways in which the medium can be incorporated into their own art practice as a tool to express their ideas.

Note: Please bring a white t-shirt to screen print on. Screen Printing can get messy, so bring a big t-shirt or clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.

Introduction to Material Design and Laser Cutting

(Ages 16+)

The Glowforge platform is a powerful laser cutting tool for both designing and production. Through hands-on lessons and demonstrations, students well create a series of three designed laser engraved or cut objects that will represent their progress in the class. Enrollment limited to eight students.
