Session 1 Classes

Summer Sculpture!

Grades K-4

Make a new sculpture every day! Using found objects, clay, wire and more materials we will construct leaning towers and kinetic sculptures. After studying the masters like Calder and Moore, students design their own 3D art. Taught by Amanda Oakes. Instructor Amanda Oakes earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education from Skidmore College. Her concentration was in ceramics and for her senior show, she created a mural painting out of clay! Oakes enjoys the technique of hand building and the inspiration she gets from working with children. She previously taught at many places including Pine Point and St. Michael's School. Oakes has been teaching at the COMO for 18 years.
