Winter Session II

COMO Coding Class (Ages 10-15):

Do you have a future programmer in your family? Young students enter the world of computer science by exploring the fundamentals of coding while using JAVA, the same programming languages used by video game studios, software firms, government agencies, and more. No previous programming skills required. Limited spaces available! 

 Dates: Thursdays | February 16th – April 13th*

*Class does not meet March 9th

Introduction to 3D Printing (ages 9-15):

This hands-on workshop introduces students to the exciting world of 3-D printing. This course will demystify the terminology, software, and materials commonly available.  Learn how 3D printers work, the basics of safety, operation and maintenance as well as how to create your own 3D models and prepare files for printing.

Dates: Fridays | February 17th – April 14th*

Video Production (Ages 9-13)

Based on the popularity of our earlier fall Video Production Class, Our Winter Video Production class dives deeper into video as a medium. The program is designed to introduce kids to the basics of video production and to have fun producing short videos for a web platform. Over the course of our 8 week, students will learn about studio production, editing and filming techniques. Students will focus on projects like music video productions, action sport filming and funny skits.

The COMO’s Minecraft B Class (Ages 7-9)

Explore the immersive world of art, physics and architecture in the COMO’s Minecraft Art class. Students will learn composition skills, color balance, and 3D modeling design all in the wonderful world that is Minecraft.

Dates: Tuesdays | February 14th thru April 11th

Time:  4:15pm- 5:45pm

Intro to Digital Illustrations and Animation (Ages 7-12)

Open the door to a new world of artistic exploration. Unleash your creativity with a new set of tools and techniques from the digital realm with our Intro to Digital Illustrations and Animation. With simple, clear instruction you will learn everything from making your first digital marks on a digital canvas to layers, effects, transformations and vectors.  Dive into the world of animation learning on the same software the studios like Studio Ghibli and Cartoon Network. No prerequisites required- but a basic knowledge of file management skills and drawing techniques is preferred.

Dungeons & Dragons After School Adventures (Ages 7-12)

Part illustration Workshop, part creative writing class and part mystical journey through our own imaginations, COMO's Summer Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Camp was wildly successful in the summer, so we are bringing it back for the our winter/spring session. Our Dungeons & Dragons After School Adventures combines the classic role-playing game developed in the 1970s with modern technology and creative learning opportunities. Develop a character, give him/her/it a back story and then start a quest with your fellow adventurers. As we play through our quest, participants will draw some of our amazing feats, write of our heroism, and combine both into a tome to take home.

The COMO’s Minecraft Class (Ages 7-14)

Digital Photography and Photoshop (Ages 10-15)

In this hands-on class, students will learn how to capture the perfect shot while mastering the high-end features of an advanced DSLR camera. Learn the fundamentals of light, shadow, exposure, and composition. Discover the power of Photoshop® as you learn how to consistently produce superior-quality images and fix almost any image issue.  Already own a digital camera? Bring it to class for even more customized instruction. Don’t have a camera? No problem! The COMO has DSLRs for you to use!

Cartooning Workshop (Ages 5-9)

Students learn techniques for using simple pictures accompanied by well-chosen words to create meaning for the reader. The course includes lessons on creating cartoon characters, story lines, and how to convey humor through images.
