Stonington COMO's Junior Leadership Program
Inspire The Youth, Impact the World.
What does “Inspire the Youth, Impact the World” mean?
We here at the COMO feel that the best way to change the future for the better, is to inspire the youth of today to create change and impact the world in a positive way.
The Junior Leadership Program is geared towards youth ages 13-16 years old. The training session is organized to build leadership, shape character and to challenge the participants to become responsible for themselves, among their peers and within the community. Throughout the week of training several guest speakers will come in to talk about respect, trust, fairness, mentoring young kids and much more.
The participants will receive CPR/First Aid certifications as well as a becoming familiar with the Positive Youth Development Model that we use in our camp. After completing the week of training each Junior Leader will be required to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours at the COMO over the Summer. Junior Leaders will be working both with counselors, campers, and COMO staff in a number of enrichment opportunities.
Fees: New Junior Leaders $200.00 (Includes training week, June 24th -June 28th)
Returning Jr. Leaders: $90.00
Additional Hours: If the student would like to go beyond their 20 hours and it is approved through the Teen Outreach Coordinator, the student may register for additional days at $10 per day.
