Karate
COMO Karate teaches children the life skills and lessons to develop healthy self-esteem, making it possible for them to enter society with confidence and enthusiasm. Respect, responsibility, and self-control are taught in every class! In addition to a quality program, families can be sure that students will be attending one of the most affordable karate schools in the area with NO annual contract. Please note, karate is a tuition-based program and COMO membership is required. New participants will start at the beginning of the month.

About the Instructor
Renshi Scott Rathbun is the karate Head Instructor and began the karate program at the Stonington Community Center in the fall of 1992. He currently holds a 5th degree Black Belt in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu, as well as a 1st degree Black Belt in Okinawan weapons. He received his 1st degree Black Belt in karate in 1986 at Northeast Karate in Westerly, RI and was an instructor at Ichiban Karate from its initial opening in February 1991 until February 2019. He received his 5th degree in the fall of 2008 from his instructor Kyoshi Chick Gavitt.
