Our Campus
Pottery Studio
We offer programming in our studio for youth and adults, including private lessons, Sip ‘n’ Spin pottery socials, and the Stonington Independent Potters program for experienced potters looking to practice their art outside the classroom.
DuBois Beach
DuBois Beach requires a season or day pass from May through Labor Day. Passes are necessary while lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the summer season. Outside of this period, DuBois Beach is free to visit. Owned by the Stonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA) and operated by the COMO, the partnership between these local nonprofits ensures essential amenities for a safe and enjoyable beach experience. Fees support beach maintenance, operations, facilities, supplies, and lifesaving equipment. DuBois Beach is family-friendly, featuring gentle surf, jetties for crabbing, and a shaded gazebo. Parking is free in the public lot adjacent to the beach.
Playground
Located on the COMO Main Building property, the playground primarily serves COMO Kids, preschoolers, and program participants. Made possible through fundraising and funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, the playground includes sensory activities, preschool-specific equipment, a shade structure, a basket swing, and climbing elements.
Pond
In partnership with the Stonington Village Improvement Association, the COMO is working to restore the pond in front of the COMO to its original state. With assistance from the DEEP, we are removing the invasive reed known as phragmites to help restore the natural ecosystem. We encourage you to read the attached letter explaining the necessity of this project and detailing our extensive research. Once completed, we look forward to welcoming back natural wildlife, offering ice skating in winter, and hosting natural science programs during warmer months.
Fields
Both fields are located on North Main Street in Stonington and support athletic programming, leagues, and events. Owen’s Field, the larger of the two, includes an adjacent parking lot, while Bear’s Field is directly across from it. Our fields are “carry in and carry out,” so please take all trash, including water and sports drink bottles, with you. Remember to keep your dog leashed and clean up after them. The Owen’s Field parking lot is private property and not a public parking lot. During the winter months, the lot is not plowed to conserve resources as a nonprofit.
Paddle
Platform Tennis, or “paddle,” combines elements of tennis, racquetball, and squash, making it the only racquet sport played outdoors in winter. The COMO paddle tennis facility features four courts, a warming hut, and an observation deck. Some balls and paddles are available in the warming hut for COMO paddle tennis members and lesson participants. We promote instructional clinics, recreational play, ladders, leagues, and tournament play. You must be a COMO Paddle or Racquet member to use the COMO paddle courts.
Pickleball
The COMO has two indoor and two outdoor pickleball courts. The indoor courts, located in the COMO main building gym, have permanent lines and portable nets. The outdoor courts, located on Courts 1 and 4 of the paddle tennis courts, are open during the summer season only. Access to both indoor and outdoor pickleball courts is included for all active adult members (ages 18+) at the COMO. Membership is required, and basic youth memberships do not include access to the pickleball courts.
Tennis Courts
The COMO campus features four regulation-size tennis courts, designed with high-visibility blue DecoTurf surfacing. This multilayered resilient system provides a cushioned surface that reduces stress on players’ bodies while maintaining optimal bounce and ease of maintenance. Members may book court time online and access the courts via swipe-card entry.
