The COMO has a brand new pottery studio, right in the COMO Main Building at 28 Cutler Street.
Sip and Spin
Come join us for a fun night out at the COMO Pottery Studio! Bring your favorite wine or brew and sip through a professional wheel throwing demo. Small snacks will also be provided. Then be instructed how to throw your own creation on the pottery wheel. Clay and firing for one piece is included. Creations will be fired and glazed by instructor and can be picked up two weeks later. Materials fee included.

No experience needed. Create beautiful hand built ornaments for the Holidays. Learn how to make flat and three dimensional forms the first week and come back the second week to glaze and make them pop with color! Pick up finished pieces two weeks after final session. Materials fee included.

Host Your Own Party
Share a birthday or host some friends at the COMO pottery studio! Call the front office to schedule a private session with our pottery instructor for you and your guests. This opportunity is available to small groups of four to eight people. Please call the COMO front office at 860.535.2476 for more details and pricing.
For $10/hour you will be able to work in the studio, at your own pace, continuing projects from class and sharpening your pottery techniques! Bench time can be purchased at the COMO main office, online, or in the studio. Bench Time is available for enrolled students. Call the COMO front office at 860.535.2476 for available times.
Screen Printing on Clay - Not Currently Enrolling
Experience two mediums colliding in this collaborative workshop! Week one we will dive into creating a 2D digital design in our computer lab. Instructors will transfer designs to screens in preparation for printing. Week two you will create your "ceramic canvas" and screen print your design using colored slips. Pieces will be fired and clear glazed by instructors. Students will come back in week three for a discussion of process and finished work. No previous clay experience necessary.

Scratching the Surface - Not Currently Enrolling
Explore the relationship between texture and color in this one day, two part workshop. Using layered clay slips and reduction techniques you will create a unique piece for your collection! The morning session will consist of students constructing a plate, bowl, or set of coasters as well as applying colored slips. In the afternoon session, when the clay has firmed up, the magic begins with the multi-color reveal! Work will be fired and glazed by the instructor and available for pick up two weeks later. No previous clay experience needed.

Dry Throwing - Not Currently Enrolling
Basic understanding of the pottery wheel needed. What to learn a new approach to throwing on the wheel that requires little to no water? Students will learn how to carve, push and stretch the clay on the pottery wheel to create beautiful textured pots. Trimmed and glazed by instructor available for pick up two weeks after session.

Sgraffito- Surface Decoration - Not Currently Enrolling
Learn an age old practice of surface decoration. Students get to draw a pattern, illustrate a story or create a motif of your very own! No experience needed, instruction will be given on basic carving and drawing techniques. Bring your own pot OR purchase a hand thrown pot from the “artist in residency” Rebecca Hnatiuk. Cup, Bowl or Plate can be purchased at the workshop price ranging from $15-30 per piece. Work will be fired and glazed by instructor and available for pick up two weeks after session.
